TORT INJURY TO ECONOMIC INTERESTS: SOME FACETS OF LEGAL RESPONSE

Abstract

This article focuses on those causes of action that have as their goal the intention to injure the economic interests of the plaintiff: inducing breach of contract, unlawful interference with contractual relations and intimidation. It canvasses the evolution in English case law and reception in Canadian courts of these economic torts, focusing on attempts to formulate a principle of general liability.
