LE LANGAGE NON SEXISTE

UNE AUTRE PERSPECTIVE

Authors

  • Céline Labrosse

Abstract

In this response to a recent article, the author presents another perspective on non-sexist language, one that is more inclusive and less gender-dividing. She outlines key facts about the evolution of the French language that support the approximation of feminine and masculine designations as women occupy a larger portion of the public space. The subsequent integration of gender into discourse undoubtedly creates certain challenges, easily met by the strategies presented in these pages and already put to good use here and elsewhere, which will inspire the legal profession in its quest for language equality.
