NOVEL FEATURES OF THE IMMIGRATION ACT, 1976
Abstract
This article canvasses changes to the 1976 Immigration Act, emphasizing new features in comparison with previous legislation. It considers several variations to the admissions and assessment process, regulation of immigrants procedures, access to judicial review or appeal, the effect of criminality and other criminal law concerns including deportation orders, security concerns and arrest and detention. The author concludes that the need for further inquiry, debate and learning continues in the area of immigration law.Keywords:
