THE FOUR COURTS OF SIR LYMAN DUFF
Abstract
Sitting on the Supreme Court for one third of its first one hundred years and participating in nearly 2000 decisions, Sir Lyman Duff is the dominating figure of that time. Rather than summarise his judicial contributions, this article provides background about Duff and some of his colleagues, in order to understand his personality and determine how it was that he came to the Court, remained for so long and achieved so much. It draws on excerpts from diaries and correspondence, most of the material unpublished. Keywords:
