INCOME OF LAWYERS

Authors

  • JOHN P NELLIGAN

Abstract

In order to determine with as much accuracy as possible the average incomes of lawyers across the country, the author analyses responses to a questionnaire sent by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics to every member of the legal profession in Canada. In doing so, the author examines the Bureau’s published series of tables showing the average income of lawyers in the years 1946, 1947 and 1948 and the distribution of income according to the size of the municipality, age, experience and type of work done. He also considers the analysis conducted by the Survey of the Legal Profession.
