Abstract

This article aims to highlight a rapidly expanding practice in Canada that has already helped transform the legal profession: legal process outsourcing (LPO). The authors look at the origins of LPO, the different forms that LPO arrangements can take and the current state of LPO in Canada. Finally, the authors identify the ethical issues related to LPO and suggest modifications to rules of professional conduct so as to better guide the practice of LPO in the Canadian legal profession.
