Abstract

This article argues that the Quebec Civil Code creates rules governing the assignment of book accounts that are less than satisfactory due to pervasive ambiguity. It reviews the various forms of assignment before dealing, in particular, with two gray areas in the general realm of assignments. The first concerns the warranties of the assignor, and the second involves standing to sue assigned debtors upon failure to pay.
