Abstract

Russell Smart discusses the possibility of a new Patent Act, The principal proposed changes deal with conditions which an applicant must fulfill in order to obtain a patent, and those which the applicant must comply with in order to maintain his patent in force. The revisions proposed under the Bill would enable Canada to become a member of the International Union and hence inventions made by Canadian inventors would be protected internationally for a specified time period. The author also discusses further changes that this new Act proposes.
