Abstract

The author canvasses the career of William Osgoode, from his brief tenure of office in Upper Canada to his appointment as Chief Justice of Lower Canada, as well as his participation in the criminal trial of David McLane, an American citizen accused of high treason. It ends with his eventual resignation and return to England.
